Beltane picnic in Meadows
Saturday 30 April
Setting up on Hill in the morning, breakfast/lunch, walkthrough, facepaint etc., onto Hill and we're off!
Friday 29 April
Everything's ready. Relax, get an early night, sleep -- in theory.
Thursday 28 April
Last session in the office - fireproofing, made more coloured balls and tested on (slightly disappointing). Steve's balding by Graham recorded on video by Nick Fiddes and on camera by assorted other Beltane-ites. Listened to John's telling of the Beltane story.
Wednesday 27 April
Health and Safety meeting in the Forest - last six made it. Also fireproofing at the Office (gloves, hats, and parts of tops and trousers not covered by taabards)
Tuesday 26 April
Health and Safety meeting in the Forest - only 21 of us showed up. I knew of three who couldn't make it and are going on Wednesday night, but that means there were another three who I didn't know about.
Monday 25 April
unMeeting in the Office - made last of balls, experimented with coloured ones for Points. Seems to work, discussed improvements and now we just to sort the details.
To pub afterwards - chat and pub quiz.
Sunday 24 April
First Walkthrough - went pretty well. Marching order mostly sorted. Looks like the torch balls will last. Few things towards the end to sort out.
Saturday 23 April
unMeeting in the Office- chopped up metal rods for torches
Friday 22 April
Away "weekend" - Lots of work done (tabards, hoods), lots of playing, eating and drinking.
Thursday 21 April
Round at Jackie's to generate empty tins and make more torch-balls.
Wednesday 20 April
Office for a quick ball-making session, then on to the Holyrood for the Beltane Social. Mostly torchies at first, but contingents from the rest of Beltane arrived in time to see the pub closed.
Reconvened in Drew Nicol's where, amongst other decadences, several Red Men were auctioned.
Sunday 17 April
At 1.30pm on Calton Hill (at the bench between the cannon and the observatory wall).
Excellent turnout - thanks! Sorted part of the Marching Order, walkthrough went incredibly well (if not exactly warm). Then pub afterwards....
Wednesday 13 April
Met at 7pm in the Office. Shredded the rest of the sheets and soaked a couple of balls in paraffin for half an hour before going out to the Meadows with a pair of big torches for a test burn.

Thursday 7 April
At Beltane Office in the early evening (6ish to about 8). Sorted shredded from unshredded sheets, found stewards' tabards, and shredded a lot more sheet.
Wednesday 6 April
At Beltane Office (19 Leven Street - above ScotMid opposite King's Theatre at Tollcross (map)) for 7pm. Shredded lots of sheeting.
Sunday 3 April
On Calton Hill for 2pm (at the corner of the observatory by the cannon). Pretty good turnout: name games and another walkthrough, also more games and a bit of crowd stuff.
Post-Hill drink at the Regent, 2 Montrose Terrace (map).
unMeeting: Thursday 31 March
At Beltane Office in the early evening (6ish to about 8): one bag of slightly damp former-NHS bed linen shredded to convenient ribbons.
Wednesday 30 March
At 7pm at the Holyrood Tavern.
Sunday 27 March
At 3pm on Calton Hill (at the corner of the observatory by the cannon).
The plan was to bring people who've not been on a walk round the route up to speed on the Hill and the procession (which we managed, in spite of the wet) and maybe to make a start on crowd-control stuff (which we didn't).
Once again, we ended up in the Guildford for a post-meeting drink and chat.
